Wimborne is a very busy and picturesque market town and it is located between the River Stour and the River Allen. A large market is held in the town centre every Friday and people come from around Dorset to buy and sell there. Minster has a long history and the Church of St. Cuthbridge, with its twin towers, dates back to AD 705. Likewise, Wimborne Minster’s free chained library was first opened in 1686 and was among the first of the free libraries in Britain.
Wimborne has a model town and gardens, with figures one tenth of the actual life size. The model was built in the nineteen fifties and still shows the town as it was then. If you visit Minster Exhibition Centre then you will see the working model railway. You shouldn’t miss Wimborne Minster’s Priest House, which is among the oldest buildings in the town. The Priest’s House is a Grade ll listed building with many original features, the house is also a museum with historical displays, and you will enjoy the garden as well.
