West Bay
The seaside resort of West Bay lies in between the new town of Poundbury and the old Roman town of Dorset itself.
With wonderful sheltered, sandy beaches to enjoy, West Bay offers many traditional delights of visiting the coast. With rowing boats for hire and a fun fair during holiday weeks, the town has family fun at the heart of it. The town’s harbour and marine area is a big pull for visitors, with restaurants and cafe’s being located nearby. Local children also use the area as an excellent spot for catching crabs, with many visitors trying their hand too.
If the weather is a bit cool then take a trip to one of the nearby towns and see the historic churches and other buildings. Dorset is quite famous for the wealth of fossils that it offers to scientists and interested collectors, and fossil collecting along the beach can be a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. If you are worrying about accommodation then don’t, Dorchester can offer you some spectacular holiday cottages that have been specially chosen for attractiveness and modern convenience in mind.
Dorset has a lot to offer its visitors and the West Bay resort is just one aspect.
